  • Fred Shilton, Lakes FC

    Fred Shilton

My wife and I have three children who all play football. Since moving to Rotorua in 2009, I have been involved with local football either coaching or on a committee for the Eastlake Junior Soccer Club, including President and Vice President and Rotorua United AFC.

As the inaugural President for Lakes FC I feel privileged to be part of an incredible team of people who are passionate about creating the home of football for our city.

  • Dan Gibbs

I have been a part of Football in Rotorua my whole life from playing, to coaching and being involved with different committees. I currently coach my 2 son’s teams. I’m incredibly excited for the future of Rotorua with this talented and passionate group of people working together to achieve more for the future generations of footballers.

  • Nick Jensen

After floating around the Auckland futsal / football scene for years, my family and I moved to Rotorua almost 3 years ago and fell straight into the awesome Eastlake community, and now the amazing Lakes FC crew. My first priority is enjoyment of the game at all ages, giving everyone the chance to participate at their own level, and grow at their own pace. Lakes FC gives us a truly unique opportunity to create exactly that sort of environment. See you out there!

  • Catherine Donovan

Kids being active and playing sport is my passion. The social, physical and personal development opportunities that sport provide are something every child can benefit from.

I have a particular interest in growing the participation of girls in football, introducing new girls to the game, and ensuring they get to experience all the positive outcomes that team sports offer.

Our family has been an active part of the Rotorua Community for over 20 years. We are excited by the direction of Lakes FC and the huge potential its new Youth and Senior pathway has to offer.

  • Rich Barter

I have coached men's football for close to two decades both here in NZ - in the WaiBOP Premiership and Championship - and in the UK. I've also coached youth football in the WaiBOP talent centres. I hold a current OFC / NZF Senior B Licence + Youth C Licence.

Like you, I love the game. Like you I want my experiences to be amazing and a fulfilment of all of our potential.

  • Tegan Stevens

I got hooked on coaching 4 years ago and currently coach my son and daughters youth teams. My NZF Junior Level 1 & 2 Coaching awards are kept valid. I'm no football guru but I endeavour to flourish as a coach surrounded by ongoing positive support from Lakes FC to enable endless opportunity and actively pursue the best outcome for all our tamariki.

  • Darren Vedder

Darren Vedder was named the WaiBOP regional winner of the 2021 McDonald's Junior Football Coach of the Year. Darren was nominated for his commitment to girls and women's football in Rotorua and modelling a growth mindset in his own coaching journey.

  • Ben McFarlane

Having grown up playing in Rotorua I returned to the area, and to football from other sports, when my son started playing 11 years ago. Since then the beautiful game has slowly taken over my life! Coaching and development is my absolute passion, and I coach at community and federation levels as well as running a local football academy. I have been immersed in sports my entire life including studying and working in the business side of it, playing, as well as teaching and coaching. I have a real interest in the strategic and culture spheres too. The Lakes FC project is truly exciting and I have no doubt that the environment we create will firstly foster a world of fun and then help develop players and people of great skill, cognition and character.

  • Mark Chapman

Moved to Rotorua 15 years ago to start a family and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle in the Lakes area. All three of my children have played from a young age and I have been lucky to be a part of their development journey as well as other Rotorua football players. Player development and coaching is a passion of mine and I currently hold a OFC / NZF Senior / Youth C license and coach at a Federation and Community levels

I currently teach Outdoor Education in a local high school and am one of five trustees of Escape Adventurous Journeys Charitable Trust.

  • Andy Willis

I’m a “seasoned” senior player who has been involved in Rotorua football for a number of years, playing Junior and Youth football locally before moving into the senior game at Rotorua City and the early years of Rotorua United before heading off to University. My wife and I returned to Rotorua last year after several years in the Eastern BOP and I’m very excited to be a part of the Lakes FC project and I look forward to playing my part in building a club all members can represent with pride on and off the pitch.

  • Jeanene Lysaght
