Our Home Ground, is your city

As a recently merged club, born from a genesis in junior football and stepping into something new and brave, we do not have clubrooms, or our own fields. Yet.

However, at Lakes FC - where modern, adaptable and inclusive thinking are central - we believe this is our strength. To us, the members of our club represent who we are, and the iconic location of Rotorua is our home. All of it. Not one corner, we wrap a fence around.

A club without walls.

Being a club without walls speaks strongly into our focus on being part of the community. With this city's people belonging to us, and us to them - where seniors can play and their children and families can play in the future.

What does this look like?

We know that the after-match is an important part of the player's experience, both for us and our opponents. We are in the process of collaborating with various other sports clubs and venues on modern, cost-effective ways to deliver this experience for you, in a way you will love without being constrained by one club house.

WaiBOP and Rotorua Lakes Council have fully supported our approach to play our football city-wide and we have made provision for every team to have the fields they need to play this season; whether we have 500 members, 600 members, or 800+ members.

We also have all our training facilities lined up for the 2022 season and beyond. This includes discussions around the use of other complimentary facilities in town, such as gyms.

Adaptable thinking for a modern club.

As part of our long-term planning, we will strive to have the best facilities in WaiBOP, with a goal of developing a home with stunning training facilities including lights and turf.

Like you, we are ambitious.

We want to be front and centre of any city planning that goes on, to maximise opportunities around facility development, and we understand that harnessing a good relationship with council is crucial. Sharing facilities with other codes, for now, puts us in a great position to be central to any future changes - and achieve a location that is better suited for football in this city.

A clubhouse is a big part of developing a culture and creating a home and an identity - but walls do not define us.

We never want to lose sight of the WHY being more more important than the WHAT.
