LAKES FC GIRLS’ FOOTBALL 2024

Lakes FC recognises the importance of girls having their own space to maximise their potential both on and off the field.

Why girls' teams?
Girls playing in girls’ teams receive increased touches of the ball, better exposure to all positions and more opportunities for decision making and leadership.  They are also able to experience and enjoy the social benefits that come from playing in a team with their peers.

Junior Girl's Football

5th - 8th Grade Girls (Born 2016 - 2019)
Girls in 5th - 8th Grade play in our local Rotorua competition on Saturday mornings at Puarenga Park.  Girls can play in their grade, or down a grade if parents feel it would be better for their development.  We will aim to have girls' teams at every grade, but it is dependent on numbers.  To better enable girls' teams to be put together, girls may train at a more central location rather than a localised school setting. If you would like to play in a girls' team, you must indicate this at the time of registration.

U10 Girls (Born 2014 and 2015)
U10 girls’ teams are made up of 9th and 10th grade girls.  These teams play in the local mixed 9th grade competition on Saturday mornings.  Whilst regular football is played in a mixed competition, the teams have opportunities to play in a number of all girls' tournaments throughout the year.  We have multiple girls' teams at this grade.

U12 Girls (Born 2012 and 2013)
U12 girls play in the Saturday morning Western BOP Girls’ competition.  We have multiple teams playing in this ALL girls’ competition.  Our teams train in a squad format, developing friendships and camaraderie across the girls' space.

The competition includes both home and away games played locally and around the Western BOP.  Transport is organised by car-pooling within the teams.

If girls prefer to remain in mixed teams they will play in the local Puarenga Park competition.

Girls Youth and Women

U14 GIRLS (Born 2010 and 2011)
Our U14 girls play in the Western BOP U14 Girls' competition.  This competition is split into two divisions, Kaimai and Koru divisions.

Kaimai Division
The Kaimai division is the premier Western BOP division for this age.  Regular games are played on Saturday mornings with two additional mid-season crossover days where we play teams from the equivalent Waikato division.

The Koru Division
The Koru division accommodates teams in the next level of competition.  Regular games are played on Saturday mornings, but there are no crossover games with Waikato teams.
